Rescue Therapies in Epilepsy

Rescue therapy may be needed to help ensure a seizure does not become a seizure emergency. Rescue therapy in epilepsy includes the use of “as-needed” medications or a vagus nerve stimulator (VNS) that can be activated during a seizure. Rescue therapies are prescribed by a health care professional. Instructions for how to use these therapies must be carefully followed.
