Bolivian interim leader and opposition lawmaker Jeanine Anez announced that she will rule the country during a transition period in which the elections should be held, speaking in La Paz on Monday.

Anez succeeded to the office of the Bolivian President previously held by Evo Morales, who had recently resigned.

"[It's] merely a transitional period, we will call for elections with honourable people. And in doing so, they would carry out an electorate process, that reflects the will and sentiment of all Bolivians," said Anez.

Bolivian President Morales resigned on Sunday following weeks on unrest in the Latin American country in the wake of the disputed October 20 presidential election. The president said he had received threats from opposition leaders and was eventually forced by the country's military to step down.

The Organisation of American States (OAS) said it had found "clear manipulations" in the October 20 vote.

Morales had earlier said he would obey the OAS' findings. He has been in charge of the country for almost 14 years.
