In today’s program, we focus on the fact that the “Word of God” is the highest most honored thing in the entire Universe. The Word of God says in Psalm 138: 2 .... “For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.” Jesus is literally the incarnated “Word of God,” the “Word made flesh” ... dwelling among us.
1 John Chapter 3 and verses 1-3 declare.... “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as He is pure” (New International Version, NIV).
We often wonder “why” as believing Christians, we feel as though we are such “outsiders” while living in this world. It is because we live with such a totally different “world view” than others who have different sets of values, contrary to the basic understandings of our biblical beliefs. The world did not recognize Jesus, the manifestation of the Word of God, who came to earth in human form. So, we must not be discouraged when faced with circumstances when people don’t receive us .... “The reason the world does not know us, is that it did not know Him.” In today’s program, Charlotte reminds us that the reason that the world doesn’t “know us,” is because they have not yet known God’s extravagant love. This love literally caused Christ to divest Himself of all of His godly entitlements and to come to earth to be born in a stable as a baby, in the most humbling circumstance. Christ identified with our humanity and paid the ultimate sacrifice to purchase our salvation.
So, when we feel rejected, just recall that Jesus, Himself, was rejected. Pray that the world will come to know His extravagant love, just as you and I have come to know how much He cares for each and every one of us.
Blessings, Brandt
