Today we discuss my question to Andrew Yang regarding the realistic possibilities of people relocating upon the receipt of Universal Basic Income (UBI), the Freedom Dividend. It is my belief that UBI addresses the question of low wage/stagnant wages and as a result it will only bring up the quality of living and not necessarily create mobility for the 44% of Americans making $18,000. Yang responds that it is important to encourage mobility and would propose an American Exchange Program. I also add that he would offer $1000 in relocation assistance.
we found that 53 million Americans between the ages of 18 to 64—accounting for 44% of all workers—qualify as “low-wage.” Their median hourly wages are $10.22, and median annual earnings are about $18,000.
Andrew Yang is an asian american entrepreneur running in the democratic primary.
