Ear wax removal is necessary when ear wax build up becomes impacted. Symptoms causes by earwax blockage include: earache (otalgia), conductive hearing loss, blocked ear, vertigo, tinnitus, itchiness and irritation, occlusion etc.
The client called this morning for an emergency appointment. They attended a national high-street chain yesterday who also perform ear wax removal but not endoscopically. The client was attended that due to her narrow and twisty ear canals that they could not get access to the ear wax in order to remove.
The client does have narrow and twisty ear canals but this did not hinder be to obtain access to the ear wax. Instead, it was actually trying to remove the lump of ear wax through the ear canal entrance, which was smaller in diameter, that was the most challenging aspect of this case.
A criticism that has often been wrongly labelled against endoscopic ear wax removal by novices or specialists who are not open-minded and not like accepting change and technological evolution, is that it can be performed in people with narrow and twisty ear canals. However, in this instance I managed to do so in a narrow and twisty ear canal where the previous specialist was unable to do with the use of both a microscope and head loupes!
