World Views and Moral Values

World Views and Moral Values This concept presentation introduces students to the relationship between world views and moral values and identifies four key sources of distortion in moving from world views to moral values and from moral values to behavior. These four sources of distortion are: (1) David Aberle's distinction between an official v. directing ideology; (2) Lawrence Kohlberg's cognitive stages of moral development; (3) Aristotle and St. Paul's concept of moral weakness; and (4) Lawrence Becker's notion of personal distance.
