I'm back after an extended break filming the videos for 100 Endgames You Must Know! Here I take on a viewer, Mhamed, in a 15+2 game on lichess.org. The unusual move 5.a3!? in the Austrian Attack is a move I picked up in a New in Chess SOS article many moons ago. The idea is to discourage Black's most active attempt with 5...c5. Mhamed surprises me with 5...a5, and I build a nice pawn center. Black misses his chance for counterplay, and his position begins to crumble when his knight becomes unexpectedly trapped in the center.
