Modesto PD Press Release: “MPD patrol officers investigated the shooting of a subject caught burglarizing a motorhome in the 2000 block of Gordon Avenue this morning. Shortly after 5 am, we received calls that a resident on Gordon Avenue was detaining a subject located inside his motorhome after his alarm was triggered. While officers were on their way, the motorhome owner shot the subject in the leg causing a non-life-threatening injury.
The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Samuel White Jr., of Modesto. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. He will be charged with burglary and violation of probation. He also had a warrant for larceny issued by Ripon PD.
The preliminary investigation indicates the homeowner acted in self-defense and did not sustain any injuries during this incident.
