Such is the low-temperature forecast, that some reports have stated temperatures will drop to as low as -3C (26.6F) which could potentially drift across the North Sea towards the UK.  Moreover, in a model produced by WX Charts, the snow falling across the UK could be as much as 20 inches (50cm). The band of weather will mostly be confined to the north of England, Northern Ireland, while Scotland will see the worst of the conditions. The model states from January 14 the snow could begin to fall heavily and last until at least January 17. According to the Met Office’s long-range forecast, the UK is predicted to experience wet and windy conditions over the next fortnight.  The Met Office warned the band of wet weather could be met with periods of snowfalls across areas of high ground. Forecasting the period of January 15-29, the Met Office said: “Spells of heavy rain and strong winds look most likely across northern and western parts. “These could be interspersed by more showery interludes where some snow could fall over higher ground.” In concordance with the Met Office’s prediction, Netweather also stated the possibility of snow showers to hit the UK.    They added within a similar timeframe that “some colder north-westerly incursions potentially bringing sleet and snow to low levels, particularly in the north and in Northern Ireland”. This fresh band of potential snow follow after WXCharts also produced models predicting the UK could see up to 14cm (6 inches). in the next fortnight. From January 10, a sweeping cold snap will cause temperatures to drop -2C (28.4F) in Scotland and freeing in central and southern parts of England and Wales. This cold snap will continue to worsen with areas in the north such as Newcastle seeing more frequent flurries of snow.  These flurries could intensify until the predicted Nordic blast sweeps across the North Sea. The Met Office has also forecasted snow and predicted wintery showers in its forecast from January 5-14. The Met Office states: “It looks likely to stay unsettled across the northwest with spells of locally heavy rain and strengthening winds interspersed with scattered showers. “These showers could turn to snow over higher ground. Across the southeast it should be more settled with light winds and longer drier, brighter periods with some sunshine possible at times. “Temperatures look to be above average across the north with the potential for some very mild conditions locally. “Further south, temperatures should be around normal for the time of year with some colder interludes possible.” T
