Ruptly is live form London on Saturday, February 22, as activists are set to hold a protest-march from Australia House to Parliament Square in support of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. The demonstration comes two days before Assange is expected to attend his extradition hearing at the Woolwich Crown Court in London.

Assange’s father John Shipton is expected to be joined following the march by Pink Floyd musician Roger Waters, Singer Mathangi Arulpragasam - better known as M.I.A. - and Former Greek Finance Minister and leader of the European Realistic Disobedience Front (MeRA25) Yanis Varoufakis at Parliament Square.

The WikiLeaks co-founder has been behind bars in Belmarsh Prison since May 2019, after he was sentenced to 50 weeks in jail for breaching his bail conditions to avoid extradition to Sweden on sexual assault allegations.

Despite the sentence coming to an end on September 22, a British judge ordered Assange to remain in prison while facing proceedings concerning possible extradition to the US, due to his previous history of absconding.
