Lye Water Substitute for Cooking

I don’t use lye water for cooking because it is very bad for health. I used a substitute for lye water (baking soda solution). The substitute for lye water I used, was 1 teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in 4 cups of water then boiling the mixture for 5 minutes, that's it!

This baking soda solution is what I use in cooking kutsinta & Pichi-Pichi.
