'Small businesses indirectly affected by fires also need govt support'

'Small businesses indirectly affected by fires also need govt support' Victorian Member for Gippsland East Tim Bull says “one of the major concerns we have here is businesses haven’t been directly fire impacted but they have suffered a massive hit economically”.

Mr Bull told Sky News the bushfires hit “right at the peak of our holiday season” which “sent people home in droves” and “decimated our business sector”.

He said government grants were only offered to businesses “directly impacted by flames”, and called for financial support for businesses suffering from a lack of tourism as a result of the bushfires as well.

“What I am looking for is some recognition that these businesses have been through an extraordinarily unique circumstance," he said.
