World Health Organization should have declared global emergency earlier: Professor Peter Piot

Winning the battle against epidemics does not lie in the hands of experts. Professor Peter Piot said it is in the hands of people who are most affected. Professor Piot helped discover the Ebola virus in 1976, and was a key part in research into HIV/AIDS. CNA’s Loke Wei Sue spoke to him in Singapore, shortly after the World Health Organization declared the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak an international emergency. Professor Piot said the move should have come earlier.
