Jamie Cullum wife: How singer NEVER thought wife would be interested in him Jamie Callum has appeared on The Jonathan Ross Christmas special tonight, as he brings in Christmas alongside a host of other stars. He is joined by David Tennant, ex-X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne, David Oyelowo, Rylan Clark-Neal, Rita Ora, and comedian Bec Hill.  Jamie’s latest album is titled ‘Taller’, which he described as a “metaphor” for his relationship with his wife, Sophie Dahl. Speaking to Jonathan Ross, he revealed he based the album around how he “managed to completely break one of the laws of the universe by marrying a taller woman”. He added he had “grown into himself as a person” by loving his wife. However, he initially believed he had no chance, as he assumed “everyone who met her would fall in love with her”.  READ MORE Jamie Cullum nabs award for radio programme  Speaking to the Daily Mail earlier this year, he said: “I didn’t entertain for one second that she would be interested in me. “I assumed that everyone who met her would fall in love with her so I didn’t necessarily think it would be my place, so I played it pretty cool. “She was living in New York and she had a boyfriend. “Six to eight months later she moved back to England and obviously it became more after that.”   The jazz singer, 40, stands at five foot three inches (1.64 metres) while his wife Sophie, an English author and model, is six feet tall (1.83m). Jamie told the publication their height difference made people think he was “about 12 years old”. He joked: “Most people think I am about 12 years old. “I always looked really young.”  READ MORE Jamie Cullum and Sophie Dahl 'thrilled' with the arrival of their second daughter Margot  Jamie added his height was a running joke while he was at school, and that he “quite liked” being picked up and “plucked”. He continued: “When I was at school there was an announcement at assembly that said, ‘Girls in the later classes must not pick up Jamie Cullum and carry him around’. “I remember at break time being plucked and picked up – I quite liked it.” He said since he married a much taller woman, the teasing has continued, but he chose to use their difference to write a love letter to his wife in ‘Taller’.  Trending  He told the Mirror: “It is something I’ve been gently teased about my whole life, particularly when I married a taller woman. “But I’ve taken something that could be my vulnerable spot and used it to say something. “For me, the kernel of that song is not so much about my height, it’s a love letter to my wife.” He added: “Hopefully she’s made me taller in our relationship – to stand the test of time and to grow as a couple, you need to match each other.”
