Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg took aim at politicians and industry leaders during a speech in Madrid on Wednesday, for deceiving the public into thinking that progress is being made in the fight against climate change.

Speaking at a plenary session of the COP25 climate summit, Thunberg said, "the biggest danger is not inaction, the real danger is when politicians and CEOs are making it look like real action is happening when in fact almost nothing is being done, apart from clever accounting and creative PR."

She added, "finding holistic solutions is what the COP should be all about, but instead it seems to have turned into some kind of opportunity for countries to negotiate loopholes and to avoid raising their ambition."

The COP25 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is being held in Madrid from December 2-13 under the Presidency of Chile with support from Spain.
