Strength Training Ensures No Muscle Loss & Builds Muscle That Is There To Last

Strength Training Ensures No Muscle Loss & Builds Muscle That Is There To Last Recently I took 6 days off from lifting weights - not because I needed to or wanted to, but simply due to being with family and visiting for the holidays. I thought I’d tackle the subject, to address any confusion or worries people have about taking time off from the gym.

The answer is simple - you will lose absolutely no muscle size during time off if you train primarily for strength in the gym. If you haven’t yet switched over to a lower volume routine based around getting stronger and optimizing progressive overload, then yes - you will lose quite a bit of muscle size.

This happens to a lot of guys who train 4, 5, 6 days a week.. they take a few days off to travel and they end up losing all of their hard work! Training for strength on a lower volume routine 2-4 times a week builds the muscle that is there to last, the muscle that’s lasts even if you do take some time off.
