TOPIC: Performance Evaluations

Either you will have a performance evaluation or you are the person conducting the performance evaluation. Either way performance evaluations serve a significant purpose to help the employer and the employee.

Evaluations not only determine salary merit increases they can determine if you keep your job in today's job market. They are valid feedback for your employment, and they are ongoing. Some of the traits that get high scores are:

1. When you are detail oriented, accurate, or thorough you pay attention to details. Look over your work before you submit it to your boss.
2. When you are well organized, you keep items in their proper place and order. The bible says, "Do things decently and in order." Organization says you have order.
3. Are you persistent and do you meet required deadlines?
4. Self-Management/Self-Control: can you manage yourself when the "Boss" is away? Can you still get your work done, or do you play? You know the expression, "When the boss is away then I can play." Keep your same momentum and take ownership of your work each day in order to get a high rating on your next performance evaluation.
5. Perseverance means you follow through to the end regardless of how challenging the task may be. You keep on keeping on.
6. Conformative - "I will obey your rules and regulations." Rules are in place for a reason. If the world did not have rules then anything goes. We need rules for guidelines to follow. Most rules in the workplace are designed for daily operations and to have a safe environment for people to work eight to twelve hours each day. In addition, rules and regulations are in place for Federal, State, or Local Agencies.

Performance evaluations are designed to provide valid feedback in order for the employee to make improvements, and set goals for their continued employment.

Thank you for watching!!
