Associate Professor Vernon Lee, director of the Communicable Diseases Division at the Health Ministry, said the current DORSCON Orange level in Singapore best reflects the disease at this point in time. He added that making a decision to elevate the level to Red would have to take into account many factors -- including how easily COVID-19 is transmitted in Singapore and worldwide, as well as recommendations from international health authorities. Meanwhile, economist Barnabas Gan said measures announced in Budget 2020 should be "largely adequate" to cushion the slowdown of Singapore's economy.
