As a Warriors fan, this is such a game changing move for me and something that I’ll be thinking about until next season when Steph and Klay finally come back from their injuries and see what this team is really made of. But don’t worry, I’ll be sharing with you guys in a bit my initial thoughts on how this trade is for the Warriors and the Timberwolves as well.
In what I would say is the most hyped deal of the 2020 NBA trade deadline, I think both teams are happy with what they got. D’Angelo Russell is going to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Andrew Wiggins is headed to the Golden State Warriors in a jarring deal struck hours before the deadline passed Thursday afternoon.
Here’s the full breakdown of the trade between the Timberwolves and Warriors.
Golden State Warriors acquire: Andrew Wiggins, a top-three protected first-round pick that becomes unprotected in 2022, and a 2021 second-round pick
Minnesota Timberwolves acquire: D’Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans, and Omari Spellman
The Wolves landed the guard they desperately wanted in Russell, who is also a close friend of Karl-Anthony Towns. They finally get to reunite and be able to do some damage in Minnesota.
